The Wedding Mistake Almost Every Couple Makes During Their Vows

If you've ever watched Kath & Kim, you'll remember Kath's famous line:
"Look at moi. Look at moi. Look at moi..."
Well, your wedding ceremony is one of the few times when your celebrant definitely doesn't want you doing that.
When I ask couples to repeat their legal vows after me, most instinctively turn and look straight at me.
And honestly, I get it.
From the time we're kids, we're taught it's polite to look at the person who's speaking. So when your celebrant says a line for you to repeat, your brain automatically says, "Look at them."
But here's the thing...
Those vows aren't for your celebrant.
They're for the person standing opposite you.
The one you've chosen. The one you're about to marry.
So when it's time for your legal vows, listen to your celebrant—but look at your partner.
Not only does it create a more meaningful and emotional moment, it also makes a huge difference to your wedding photos and video. The magic happens when you're looking at each other, sharing a smile, a laugh, a tear, or that "I can't believe this is finally happening" look.
Trust me, your photographer would much rather capture that connection than twenty photos of you staring at me.
So here's your celebrant tip:
❤️ Listen to your celebrant.
❤️ Speak to your partner.
❤️ Look at your partner.
And if you hear Kath Day-Knight's voice in your head saying, "Look at moi, look at moi..."
Do the exact opposite.
Your memories—and your photos—will thank you for it.
